Sick / Fit Note
At NavGP, we understand that life doesn’t stop when you’re unwell, and obtaining a sick or fit note shouldn’t add unnecessary stress. That’s why we offer a professional, efficient, and convenient service for individuals needing a certified assessment for work, school, or other obligations.
What is a Sick/Fit Note?
A sick note, also known as a fit note or Statement of Fitness for Work, is an official document issued by a qualified healthcare professional. It serves to confirm whether you are:
Unfit for work due to a medical condition, or
Fit for work with specific adjustments or accommodations.
Sick/fit notes are crucial for employers and other organizations to understand your health status, enabling them to provide the appropriate support during your recovery or facilitate your return to work under suitable conditions.
This process is carried out through an online consultation where the GP assesses your health condition and its impact on your ability to work. We issue standard sick / fit notes for a duration up to 2 weeks, but are unable to issue MED5 Sick / Fit Notes. While standard sick / fit notes are acceptable for most purposes, it is your responsibility to check with your employer, school or university etc, in case they need a specific document.
Note: The MED5 is a specific type of sick/fit note generally required for longer term absence, legal, occupational, or insurance purposes. Unlike standard sick/fit notes, a MED5 provides a more detailed assessment of your fitness for work. This can only be issued only by a clinician, who has been involved in your ongoing care over a longer term - ideally your NHS GP / Hospital Consultant
